International Piano Teaching Conference in Covid Times – July 15/16/17 2020

Lots of enthusiasm, ideas streaming in the chat box, people sharing the challenges of the times personally and in their studios and three screens full of faces.

This was the three day Simply Music conference I attended recently without leaving my couch.

Piano Teaching/Learning Content

There were breakout sessions on teaching genres such as Accompaniment 2, Jazz, playlist (the students always maintain an hour of playing in this method), managing marketing internationally, Comp and Improvisation, Q & A sessions and much more.

I loved the later because I have enthusiastic students who fire tricky questions about chords and composition I can’t always answer. The discussion was free ranging and the personal connections with other piano teachers over the globe made it richer.

All lead by two brilliant Simply Music teacher coaches from the states, and the founder of Simply Music Piano..Melbourne borne Neil Moore.

This week my bucket has been overflowing with new input and tweaks in my delivery to my students in piano lessons

It’s been great for them to see me keen enough to get up in the middle of the night for three nights in a row to learn stuff. It benefits me and it benefits them.

The following is the overarching goal of Simply Music. -’'to maximize the likelihood of having a world where everyone plays’. It feels fitting at this time in particular with my 100% online learners.
We are all in this together. Viva La Musica.
